Tim Flood named Grossmont College VP of Administrative Services
Veteran employee and Grossmont College graduate will provide facilities oversight
EL CAJON – Upon approval of the Governing Board, Tim Flood has been named Vice President, Administrative Services at Grossmont College.
Tim Flood is one of Grossmont College’s “native sons.” Raised in San Diego, Flood received his associate’s degree in general education from Grossmont College before attaining a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Masters of Public Administration degree, both at National University.
Flood has worked in public education for over twenty-four years, and in school business and facilities administration for the last thirteen years. He worked his way up from groundskeeper to Manager of School Facilities with the Grossmont Union High School District prior to being hired as the Director of District/Campus Facilities, Operations & Maintenance at Grossmont College in 2001.
During his tenure, Flood has been responsible for the development, communication, implementation, and oversight of the grounds, maintenance, operations, classroom maintenance, utilities, and special project personnel and budgets. Among his most significant challenges, Flood has acted as college liaison for districtwide implementation of the repair and renovation of aging buildings and construction of new facilities at Grossmont College funded by Proposition R, the District’s $207 million facilities bond passed in 2002. As costs rose and budgets began to tighten, Flood skillfully worked with the district, consultants and other design professionals assisting his team to allow all projects to be completed on time and on budget.
In 2008, Flood became acting Vice President. Following a nationwide search for a permanent appointee, Flood was selected. In addition to his ongoing responsibilities, as the chief business officer for the college Flood has lead financial responsibility for the bookstore, food service, printing, college cashier, and the Associated Students accounting contract.
“I’m fortunate to be a member of a dedicated team of managers, supervisors and staff working to achieve college and district goals,” said Flood “I have great respect and confidence in the work that is accomplished by the college and district as a whole. I am excited to be part of the changes taking place and contribute to meeting the college and district priorities meeting student needs, new challenges and opportunities.
“I love this college and I love working for the district. In this role I have the ability to help the college grow and respond to student and community needs,” said Flood.
“Tim is one of those people who can handle anything that comes at him,” said Dr. Sunny Cooke, President of Grossmont College. “His collegiality, his outstanding communication skills, and his technical knowledge make him the ideal person for an extremely challenging role in challenging times.
“Right now I’m in awe of his ability to juggle distributing 1,000 boxes for people getting ready to move their offices to temporary space due to the student services building renovation and answer all their questions, while also working on developing next year’s Tentative Budget for the college at the same time,” said Dr. Cooke.
