Steinback Named New VP of Instruction at Cuyamaca College
Robin Steinback brings a wealth of experience to campus
EL CAJON – Following an extensive national search, Robin L. Steinback, Ph.D., has been appointed vice president of instruction at Cuyamaca College.
Steinback, who holds a doctorate in sociology from the University of California, Riverside, has a diverse community college background, having served as a faculty member, department chair, and dean of instruction during her 20 years of faculty and administrative work. A graduate of Mt. San Jacinto College, Steinback returned to the California community college to begin her career in education as a part-time sociology instructor in 1985. Prior to Cuyamaca College, Steinback served as vice president of academic affairs for Solano College in Fairfield, Calif.
Steinback has wide-ranging experience in the rules and regulations governing community colleges, technology, accreditation, student learning outcomes curriculum, and community partnerships. She is described as intelligent, collegial, ethical, organized, and a consensus builder.
“We had talented, articulate candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences competing for this appointment,” said Arleen Satele, summer administrator in charge at Cuyamaca College “Dr. Steinback was tops. She is joining a great Cuyamaca team and I’m confident she will quickly become part of the Cuyamaca family.”
Steinback began her post in June.
“I look forward to contributing my talents, skills and experience to support the exceptional work already going on here at Cuyamaca College,” she said. “I’m excited to meet everyone and get to work.”
