Need extra college credits or want to learn new job skills? Check out the more than 400 classes being offered this summer at Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges.

Most classes begin June 13 and are four, six or eight weeks long. Registration for current students begins April 25, with open registration starting May 9 and continuing until June 12. At just $46 a unit for California residents, the average class only costs $138. Many students qualify for fee waivers, and financial aid is available.

With smaller classes offering more one-on-one time with instructors, summer is the perfect time to take those classes you expect to be most challenging and may require a little more instructional help. The classes are perfect for recent high school graduates looking to get a jumpstart on college, college students who want to pick up extra credits, or workers who want to build on their job skills.

If online courses strike your fancy, they’re available as well, including Principles of Information Systems (CIS-110, Cuyamaca); and Elementary Statistics (MATH-160, Cuyamaca, Grossmont).

For those seeking basic computer skills to make themselves more attractive to employers, Grossmont College’s Business Office Technology Flex Lab offers self-paced, online or instructor-led courses in basic keyboarding and using Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. For a list of classes, orientation dates and additional information, go to the BOT web page at www.grossmont.edu

In addition to a full array of general education classes offered for students planning to transfer to four-year universities, both colleges offer specialized, career technical education classes for the summer session.
