Creating Futures: The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District Hosts East County Principals Breakfast
El Cajon, CA – On February 25, 2025, Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges hosted a joint “Principals Breakfast” at Grossmont College that was attended by principals and superintendents from various east county community schools and districts. The inaugural breakfast provided a format to strengthen partnerships, highlight the academic pathways both colleges offer, review the free tuition Promise Program, and consider opportunities for community collaboration.
The Principals Breakfast was designed to encourage and maintain an open dialogue with
local K-12 leaders. Nearly 4,500 east county high school students take advantage of
the District’s Dual Enrollment program. Dual Enrollment is an option for high school
students which allows them to complete college
credits while still enrolled at their high school, and gives them a jumpstart on their
college education. The District provides outreach and a clear track for high school
students to make the transition from high school, to college, to career.
The District recognizes and honors the importance of maintaining open communication
with educational leaders in the community. At the Breakfast, leaders also discussed
career readiness, workforce development, the value of dual enrollment between the
District and high schools in the region, and specifically our strategic partnerships
with Helix Charter and Steele Canyon high schools. Attendees were also provided with
a tour of Grossmont College Culinary Arts, the Hyde Art Gallery, Allied Health & Nursing,
and the MESA Study Center. Next year’s Principals Breakfast will be hosted at Cuyamaca
College.
