1098T Information

 

Question: Why didn't I receive a 1098-T?

Answer: There are several possibilities:

  • You do not have a valid Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) on file.  You will need to complete and submit IRS form W-9S to the Admissions & Records office.  After the form is processed, you may access your information as outlined on this page.
  • You are looking for your 1098-T at the wrong address.  IRS regulations require that the 1098-T be mailed to your permanent address, not your local or temporary one.  Check at home to see if your family received the form.  You may also self-serve and print your own form by following the instructions on this page.
  • Your 1098-T was mailed to the wrong address.  If you do not have a current address on file with Cuyamaca or Grossmont college, the 1098-T may have not been processed or it may have been sent to an old address.  Please go to your college Admissions and Records office to verify we have your most current and accurate address on file.
  • You are an International Student (considered a Non-Resident Alien). Form 1098-T is not issued to International Students, unless requested. An International Student is not eligible for the various educational tax credits and/or associated deductions for income tax purposes. The IRS therefore does not require Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District to issue Form 1098-T for International Students.

HOW TO: Create a TRA Vangent Account to view your 1098-T Documents online

 

1. Log on to https://tra.maximus.com

 Log on to https://tra.vangent.com

2. Click on First Time Students to Register

 Click on First Time Students to Register

3. Fill in:

   a.  the Last Four digits
          of your Social
          Security Number,

   b.  your First Name, and

   c.  your Last Name,

4. then click on the Next button

 Fill in: the Last Four digits of your Social Security Number, your First Name, and your Last Name, then click on the Next button

5. If the government has
    1098-T forms for you
    it will allow you to
     Register.

6. Now provide:

    a.  Your email address
         (and confirm it), and

    b.  A username

7. Then click on Complete
  Registration

 

 If the government has 1098-T forms for you it will allow you to Register. Now provide: Your email address (and confirm it), and a username. Then click on Complete Registration.

8. Now login to your email
    account and look for a
    message from
     TRA Customer Service

 Now login to your email account and look for a message from TRA Customer Service

9. The message contains
    your temporary
     password for the
    username you created
    in Step 6b

 The message contains your temporary password for the username you created

10. Now navigate to the address they provide, https://tra.vangent.com/traPortal/

11. Put in your username
    and the temporary
     password and it will
   prompt your for a new
   one. Now provide:

    a. A security question
         and answer,

    b. A new password
       and confirm,

12. Click Next and now
    you've set up your
    account

 

 Now navigate to the address they provide, https://tra.vangent.com/traPortal/app/userAcknowledge - Then put in your username and the temporary password and it will prompt your for a new one. Now provide: a security question and answer, a new password and confirm. Click Next and now you've set up your account.

HOW TO: View and print your 1098-T online

1. Log on to https://tra.vangent.com

2. Input your previously
   created username and
    password and click
   Login

 

 Log on to https://tra.vangent.com Then input your previously created username and password and click Login.

3. If you have 1098-T
    Forms to view, they will
    be listed in order by
    Calendar year.

4.  To View a 1098-T for
     the specified year,
     click on the
      View/Print 1098-T Link

5. It will open a PDF File
    for you to View/Save
    and/or Print
