One of GCCCD’s district wide priorities is to develop sustainability initiatives that position the district as a regional leader in responsible and accountable stewardship of all resources, and promote the integration of green practices into all endeavors.
The district’s Facilities Master Plan defines six key sustainability goals:
- Be local and regional leaders in training the green workforce.
- Reduce, reuse and recycle.
- Improvement environments for working and learning.
- Foster environmental stewardship and economic prosperity.
- Strive for energy independence with collective consciousness.
- Be responsible and accountable for water use and management.
The development of sustainable facilities will focus on six essential areas:
- Energy Use & Renewables
- Habitat Preservation & Restoration
- Storm Water
- Transportation
- Waste Reduction & Management
- Water Use & Reuse
