One of GCCCD’s district wide priorities is to develop sustainability initiatives that position the district as a regional leader in responsible and accountable stewardship of all resources, and promote the integration of green practices into all endeavors.

The district’s Facilities Master Plan defines six key sustainability goals:

  • Be local and regional leaders in training the green workforce.
  • Reduce, reuse and recycle.
  • Improvement environments for working and learning.
  • Foster environmental stewardship and economic prosperity.
  • Strive for energy independence with collective consciousness.
  • Be responsible and accountable for water use and management.

The development of sustainable facilities will focus on six essential areas:

  • Energy Use & Renewables
  • Habitat Preservation & Restoration
  • Storm Water
  • Transportation
  • Waste Reduction & Management
  • Water Use & Reuse
